An Post is Ireland’s national postal service provider and one of its largest national companies directly employing over 10,000 people through its national network of retail, processing and delivery points.
To keep customers informed of its full range of services – which encompasses postal, communication, retail and financial services, it set out to modernise its in-store space across a nationwide network of over 260 outlets. An Post partnered with in-store media specialist Mood Media to integrate digital signage and audio as part of the revamp, with the aim of offering customers greater insight into its full range of services. Mood has just completed its 100th installation for Ireland’s postal service and will aim to have finished its nationwide revitalisation of An Post’s outlets by the end of May 2011.
‘You can do a lot more at your local An Post outlet than just send a letter,’ said John Sheehan, managing director of Mood Media Ireland. ‘By adding rich media content in-store, An Post can make its business and personal customers aware of these services in an impactful way, right at the point of sale.’
Promotional messages are also broadcast through in-store speakers, periodically synchronised with the visual channel. Music streaming is currently being trialled in a few sites with aim for a nationwide roll-out. The combined audio and video compensates for An Post’s small retail footprint, positioning the brand as progressive and diverse, adapting to market trends and individual customers’ needs.
The modernisation of Ireland’s post office aims to reinforce the role of An Post in the community and to encourage customers to take up more services which their local branch has to offer.
